Gil Havas
January 17, 1991-August 6, 1999

 Sherry Mikelberg, a very good friend of the Havas Family, has embarked in a heartwarming project for Starlight. She has made unique charms, keychains, bookmarks and wine bottle charms in memory of Gilly Havas, who would have been 17 years old this year. Unfortunately, Gilly died of an inoperable brain tumor at a very young age.

Other teams have also joined the core Caring Crafts team to help in the fundraising efforts in memory of Gilly.Cravin' Crepes from the Herzliah High School Student Stock Exchange project, through the enthousiasm of Jillian Steinberg, raised over 1200$ for Starlight! We are certain that they were proud of the results and they had fun working on the project. Thank you to Cravin' Crepes for all their efforts!

Join us to commemorate Gilly’s life and help fulfill the dreams of other children. The Caring Crafts team has already achieved its first goal of granting the wish of a special child, Felix a brave 12 year old whose activities are very limited due to cerebral palsy. Although he manages well considering his disabilities, his mother tells us he is sad to be different. Felix’s big wish is to be able to walk well… his second wish was to go to Disney, which was granted in January 2008. His mother sent us a beautiful thank note with photo telling uswhat a wonderful trip it was for Felix!

The Caring Crafts team also reached and surpassed its second goal to place a Fun Center in honour of Gilly at the Montreal Children's Hospital. Together they have raised over 25,000$ and will not stop!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

More Special Wishes will be granted and more Starlight programs will be offered, including Pet Therapy (close to Gilly's heart), hospital play room embellishment, a Fun Center as well as a Starlight family retreat to brighten the lives of sick children and their families, one smile at a time, in honour of our dear Gilly!
